White Contact Lens - Freaky Looking, But It Has It's Useses

Now this is freaky, white contact lens, something I’ve never heard of before. For most of us contact lens are used instead of a pair of glasses as one is able to see a whole lot better with contacts in your eyes. White lens, however are, as mentioned, new to me. A white contact lens is mainly used in the entertainment industry or someone may wear a pair to a Halloween Party. Primarily, I think Hollywood movie makers would issue these to the actors in a horror flick.

White-Out contact lenses are retailed in the UK for 18.00 British pounds a pair. Many people on that side of the Atlantic wear these lenses to parties and other weird functions. The white contact lens is able to hydrate the eyes and won’t cause any detrimental effects on a person’s sight. The white contact lens is solid and able to be used time and time again. Unlike the USA, Halloween is a relatively new celebration in the UK and this lens is no doubt a hit with many Brits.

Climbing back on an airplane and heading back to the US we find the Zombie White out contact lens is retailing for $35.00 for one! Now that’s what is known as an expensive contact lens. Again this single contact lens is ideal for Halloween parties, theater productions, Zombie pantomimes and other theatrical uses. Clearly the white contact lens has few uses. There are also a few rock bands playing around the cities of this world who, for a gimmick, would wear these lenses during shows. Ideally punk rock bands would find these lenses the perfect prop for a stage performance. I can also imagine a veteran rocker like Alice Cooper wearing a lens and singing “Welcome to my Nightmare”. Unfortunately when that song broke onto the music scene back in the 1970’s, contact lenses were still rather primitive compared with today’s standards and having a white contact lens was just plain unheard of.

It is amazing what lengths some companies will go to, in order to make a dollar. Whoever came up with the idea to make and sell these types of contact lenses was a pretty innovative person. I’m not sure however, whether this kind of lens is actually a big seller. I’m sure sales increase around Halloween time, but what of the rest of the year, who buys a white contact lens in August, for example? To all of you fun-loving fools out in the world, pick up a pair of these lenses and enjoy.
