    Contacts For Dry Eyes
Some of us suffer from dry eye daily, others get it occasionally and for those that have to wear contacts, dry eyes requires contacts for dry eyes. First of all, what causes dry eye? Dry eyes can be caused by a number of things, for example - there are some people whose eyes don’t produce tears as much as others. These people have to constantly use eye-drops to keep their eyes moist. Another reason is the environment where a person lives or works. If she or he works in a dry, stale air office then it is likely that he or she will suffer from dry eyes regularly. Also, if the place where he or she lives is dry and lacks any kind of humidity, then it is plausible to expect the person will be susceptible to dry eyes.
There are no contacts for dry eyes that are specifically produced for people who suffer from dry eyes. Most contact lenses float on the film of tears that covers your eye. The lens keeps moist in this film of water. When the film dries out, because of natural and unnatural drying agents – cigarette smoking, air conditioners, wind etc, the lens then has nothing to float on and this is when it feels like you have sand in your eyes. There are however, some contact lens brands that use special materials in the contact lens construction which can greatly cut down getting dry eyes while wearing lenses. Two companies that are continually investigating and have produced a kind of dry eye contact lens are Proclear Compatibles and Acuvue Osasys. Both these manufacturers have apparently cornered the market retailing contacts for dry eyes.
It is my humble opinion nothing can really be done to alleviate the problem of dry eye that many suffer from. The above two contact makers, think they have found a solution, but have they really? Each of us everyday visits, works or lives in a place that might or might not cause our eyes to dry out and therefore it is difficult to pinpoint the problem areas. We know that air conditioners, and cigarette smoke, dry our eyes, what we don’t really know is how to permanently stop this dryness happening. Even wearing something like contacts for dry eyes doesn’t really stop or protect our eyes from dryness and until some wonderful machine or eye guard is created, we are just going to have to continue using eye-drops to moisten our eyes.
